Hi
First post on this forum and love reading all the info from you experienced people, And I am hoping someone can help with my question regarding GT and EBA.
I bought both hoping they were male as I intend to setup an all male tank but after 3 months together thy have paired up even though they both appear to have the typical male characteristics. It started by the EBA doing a lot of shaking around the GT and cleaning a rock and then proceeded to change it facial colour to black. Overnight eggs have appeared and both are guarding that area. At first the GT seem to roam around and ward the other fish off while EBA stayed at the egg site. Now this role has reversed and I’m really confused as to which one is the male. Please see the pictures attached and any help would be much appreciated.

Both look like males, but that green terror's breeding tube sure looks female. I think the GT is the female, though the secondary sexual characteristics (fin length, orange margin, color on gill plate, head profile) look male. I could be wrong, because everything but the breeding tube points towards it being male. The EBA looks more male to me too.

Nice tank and fish by the way!

thank you it’s so confusing as I was so sure from the characteristics that they were both male, I guess il keep an eye on them for now but I’ve read a lot of the EBA being prolific breeders so at some point one will have to go. I’m trying to get towards at least the aggressive/semi aggressive fish are all male in my tank. I’ve also got a blue Texas in there But I’m guessing it would be too young to sex?

Better shot.you can see the tube size now the EBA. has a small v it's there just small . And the checks . In some CAs the male will have spots or sgiglees , and the females will be blotches or thicker lines .
