i just finished building a 150 freshwater and a 90 planning a marine my 90 is equipped with a sump that i built and water output that sits inside the water that acts like a jet.

im thinking of placing some live rock in the sump the right side is an outtake from the tank diveder in the center flows down to tank input and jets back into the tank.

has much use in fresh water bio media is just some sponges and an old backdrop filter from freshwater.

if i place some live rock down the right side of my sump this would seed my tank am i correct am i still missing anything i viewed a marine in a store that seemed to have a very simalar deign minus a screen. but they never had the divider.

its 90 gallon ply with glass front and is currently uninhabbittated will house a large pleco temorarilly while i get the needed supplies and equippe my 150.

yeah the LR in the sump will seed the tank and any sand or rock in there.. but you will also want SOME rock in the tank for fish to use for shelter/territory/etc

other than things like a few powerheads, a heater, etc..

all i can think of would be a good protein skimmer... not to familiar with brands so i'll let someone else give ya the DL on them, but i hear bakpaks and octopuses are really good

yeah.. is something should happen you'd lose 2 great things instead of one :D :(

I personally don't use skimmers at all. All my sw tanks don't have skimmers on them. I like a natural balance of fish to LR and space so my tanks aren't jammed pack with fish though. So if you plan on having a heavy stocking list of large fish it is probably worth it to buy the skimmer. Or hey why not build one yourself. There are plans online if you google it.

The tv on top of the tank was the whole idea its an incomplete tv stand aquarium the stand is very heavy all alone so i'll slowly build around it in place.

the picture looks a little higher than it actaually is.

I decided to hold of on the sw water tank a little while longer fw for now i have some junior monsters that are going to end up in my 150 and then ill go for the salt.

or should i have a 150 salt and a 90 freshwater cant make up my mind.
