Please know that I do not have any real knowledge of building a pond.
So I come seeking help from fellow MFK members.

My family and I are planning to build a pond in our backyard, but we do not know exactly what we would need for building a pond...

All I know is just dig how ever you want it.
Set the liner in and fill it up.
Set up filter, pump, lights, and decorate it...

Please excuse my poor knowledge as I am a 15 year old newbie, but I would like to know more for future reference.

The picture below is our backyard and plans for the pond.
Sorry for my bad paint skills but I think it should do...

(Blue - Pond) (Brown - Bridge)

We wanna have a kinda wavy/round V shape pond around that cemented area with a bridge going over the pond.

First things first is having the pond dug out.

Can anyone list out the recommended supplies we need for the pond and the procedures for us please?

we were also planning to have two waterfalls on the sides, One with DIY Bakki Shower, and regular pond filter hidden inside the waterfalls.

We check the calculations and the pond would be about 1616 gallons
with 4' depth, 3' width, and 18' length (From Left side, to right, and up)

If anything I have said is wrong please correct me and if the calculations are wrong.

Looks like a great spot...

The bridge will be good spot to hide skimmer(s) with access through a removable panel in the bridge. Skimmers will hide pumps and collect any debris as it falls into the pond before it has a chance to settle to the bottom. A bottom drain can also by the bridge and be out of sight.

I would try to go a little wider. It will give you more surface area and probably easier to dig to the 4' depth if going at it by hand. Have to factor in bottom drain (if used) will excavating.

If access into the yard allows, a rented mini excavator will be able to dig the pond in a few hours. You will have to find an area in the yard for spoils or have them hauled away which can be a little pricy.

Some tools that will be needed....
Shovels or various sizes and handles.
All steel spade will be the best buy.
Wheelbarrows, pick axe, hoses, transit or at least some levels.
Plumbing tools like channel locks, pvc cutter or hack saw will be needed.

Sorry, for a late response. Internet was out the last few days...

My family dont wanna hire people so im gonna have to dig by myself...

Thnx for the info =)

Which pond equipments would you recommend? (Filter, skimmer, pump, etc.)
