Hi all,

Im new to this site and keeping fish and could do with some help. I have just got a 155 litre tropical set up, I have 1 Pleco, 1 Clown Loach, 1 Pearl Gourami, 4 Angel fish and 5 Rainbow fish. Im looking to add more fish to this tank but am slightly confused as to what I can have with these fish. I would love to get a Fresh Water Flounder. Also I was told when I bought the tank to keep the temp at about 85 but I think this may be a little to warm. Anyhelp would be good thanks.

Welcome to MFK!

Right now you are overstocked. I wouldn't be looking to add anything more. Those angels when grown up to about 8 months of age will likely pair off, and then all other fish in the tank will be at risk of death. The rainbows will get pretty large as well, and are often aggressive in smaller tanks. Agression is going to be a huge issue. I would not get another fish, I would actually get a second tank and split the current stock up. 85 is good if you are planning on accelerating the growth rate of the angels to breeding status, and to help induce breeding, but not a temp I'd recommend. I'd aim more for 80 for most species of tropicals. If that is a common pleco it will outgrow the tank, as will the clown loach. The loach will take a long time to out grow the tank, but the pleco (if common) will be outgrown in less than 1 year. What kind of filtration are you running on the tank?

welcome fellow UKer. id leave it as it is, and a few species of flounder would grow bigger than that anyway- do you know what species it is. the loach will be fine for years probably. what are the dimensions of your tank?

The dimensions are 84W x 44D x 59H cm, its an aqua one 850 tank with Wet and Dry Trickle filter. I am trying to get rid of the Pleco as it is already pretty big, about 6 inches. Trouble is no one wants it, it is a common pleco.

You need more than one clown loach. I recommend at least 100. LOL

Im thinking of losing the Pleco and the Gourami, I would like to have a tank with lot's of smaller fish in rather than a tank with a few big fish. I would also like to try live plants. I have been looking at guppy's tetra's and betta's and have been told that I could get away with the Tetra's being in with the Angel fish as long as they are well fed. Is this right?

With angels anything small (guppies, neons, cardinals) will be eaten generally. When they pair off be ready with another tank. The adults that pair off will kill anything in their territory, including plecos.

welcome.
I started with that one tropical fish tank than NEEDED another because I was overstocked, then you wake up one morning with an aquarium in every room and wonder where the refridgerator is.

WILL WORK FOR FISH
