Newbie Pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice, now are the pictures of two different ponds, the second pic looks to be higher than the first?

Yes same pond just the ground level was raised later on. The actual water depth is 3ft but wish we had made it deeper. The first picture is at night with just the flash the water is much clearer than it looks there.

Internals are 16'x 13'x40in.The planted section is approx 1meter in dia so I have it at approx 3500UK gallons unless somebody knows better. My biggest difficulty will be heating it for the one month of Winter as the water unheated will drop to 19deg C. Have found swimming pool heaters but they all have copper pipes.

In order of my favourite :

Redtailed Cat 15in had for about 5 months and doing very well.
Silver Arowana approx 25inch had since 4inch ex fishtank. This fellow can eat frogs all day long
2x Tiger shovelnose the one pictured I believe is the male as they were apparently raised together and this is the larger more aggressive.
2x Giant Goramy 11in one of these does not have the larger lips/jaw not sure if they are an off shoot of the later.
1X Oscar 8inch
1x Black Shark 12in what a beauty get black not a mark or fin damage shows no aggression.
6 XSilver Sharks and Tinfoils about 6inch
2x 12in common Plec's very busy plenty to clean
2X Thin bar datnoid 5inchs wish these would come out more and eat more at this rate they will end up in the Tiger's.
