New York, I think.
I'm curious if anyone here can give a full list of equipment used for an aquarium with a cabinetry. I'm planning to have a custom made 1.8m (L) x 0.7m (W) x 1m (H) aquarium with cabinetry (to fit in my space).

I'm pretty excited about this but I'm really a newbie.

Can anyone here give me any specifications for this big aquarium?

And I'm planning to make it a reef aquarium, is that ok?

Are you buying a ready built tank and custom building it to fit the cabinet or building a tank to fit?

The basics are pretty simple, make sure the unit fits where you want it, that the stand is sturdy enough and the place where it is located can hold the weight. You will need to figure on room in the cabinet for filtration, room to heat it, room for lighting. Make sure you have easy access for maintenance.

Might be more of a help if you also posted the plans for your design.

And... WELCOME TO MFK!

Thanks for the response! I'm building a tank to fit a certain space in my room (or the living room). OK. I'm attaching my aquarium plan.

I'll be asking about the equipment that can fit inside the cabinetry. I mean, what is the usual layout of the equipment? Like where to put the protein skimmer or pumps?

Are you planning on doing a sump filtration or canister?

I'll be probably getting a sump filtration, and probably an extra "space" for all the plumbing.

I'm just jealous of you being able to build a 300 gal as a newbie.

Well, don't be! It's just that a lot of blessings are just coming into my life. I've worked my ass off... I feel like I wasted my life WORKING, you know what I mean? So, I'm kindda impatient to start small. Though I already experienced starting in small aquariums, mostly FW fishes.

I agree! Wow, I thought we were talking a 55g or something along those lines. Seriously you cant be that much of a newbie, what have you done before?

Haha! Yeah, but I'm pretty much a newbie in reef. When I was in high-school I owned like 6 goldfish, some guppies, janitors and sharks. They were with me for 3 years, then i have to sell them and the aquarium because my family had to move.

Then we I was in college, I got two Siamese fighting fish, and kept them in empty mayonaise jars because I don't have a small aquarium for them. I was damn busy with my college life, the other died. And 6 months later, the last one did too due to the fact I forgot to change his water (it was deep green already, poor thing). And oh, the Janitor fish. It was given to me by a fish vendor at the market!

Now, I feel impatient but I believe I can do this reef! But I know I should educate myself further.

I have a good background in architecture and plumbing.

Lots of info LOL that's good thought.

OK first off do you know how to build a sump? If not check the DIY. Forum if so great time to skip forward.

The sump should be around 75g-125 ( personally I suggest a 125 since bigger is better LOL). From your schematic it looks as if the stand Will be as tall as the tank so you should be able to fit the sump under the tank and still have room to built a shelf for the chemicals and what nots.

For the equipment I'm sure u know youll need most of the basic but ill list them anyways

Heater (depending where u live u might not. Best to have incase )
return pump
Sponge (for the sump)
Bio balls (those dish scrubber works but I prefer Bio balls just me though)
Lights (u might want one for your sump too)
Carbon
PVC pipes
A hose to connect to the return pump and the tank
aquarium safe silicon
Sea salt

I'm sure I'm missing quite a few but that should give u a rough idea maybe some other member's can chime in on what else u need

Good luck with the build =]
