k i have a 135gall tank that will be completely empty and i will have the chance to upgrade to a small pond very soon well not small like probably 6x6.k so i have a guy who brings in what i think are motoros and i would like to get one but i have a few questions 1.can i have silica sand with the ray 2.what other kind of ray could it be it is only like 60 dollars so it couldnt be anything to fancy. 3.will a 15gallon wet dry sump be a good enough filter

and sorry for so many questions i just want to do this right.

1- I have no experience w silica sand

2- $60 sounds closer to a retic where I'm located, but very well could be motoro(it sounds as if you know a store owner?)

3- I would shoot for a little larger sump such as a breeder tank 36x18x??

k the dimensions are 6x2x1.5
i know the store owner very well
and the sump is 30x18

Is that LxWxH? Most standard 135s are 6x1.5x2 (LxWxH)

Retics are nice rays just like any other ray.

that tank for a retic will be fine.
I would upgrade your sump to a bigger tank. Get a 40 gallon breeder tank
(36L x 18w x 16t)
If this is your first ray, and I assume it is, read up on retics. Ask questions and read read read on care. They are nice rays. Take some small amount of work, but nothing to hard. Remember, their mouth is small and there for, the food you feed must be small. But in time, your retic will be able to eat just about anything you put in as food.
When the ray comes into the store, ask the owner to hold it for you (deposit maybe required) until it starts to eat. Make sure its healthy before taking home.
Have fun, congrads and good luck.

last ones he had he had them eating shrimp and the sump is 30x15x15 15 gallons was a random guess and im not good at guessing i will get pics when he comes in
