  1. Her are a few pics of the most discussed snakes for ppl who want something that wont be able to choke and kill them while sleeping.Even if one were to bite you, your cat could do more damage.
  2. So since it comes up I would say, every day, lol,I thought I would post some of the ones that we feel are good for you new guys. Some such as the bloods and rainbows require more humidity than others. You can look them up on Google or ask in this thread for specific care but I assure you that most of the info can be found in care sheets.Usually what we can offer you that they wont is some more hands on advice and specific situations we've been through with a particular snake.
  3. Their are of course more out their but these are some good starters, and as far as a winner here, depends on what you want. For holding it like you wuv your little snake, the corn and Ball python wins hands down. Some of the others can be feisty until tamed down a bit.The blood python being more of a defensive snake but some ppl have very docile ones too.King snakes and milk snakes like to wiggle away and sometimes bite.Rosys are very docile but hardly move around so you may get bored. However, they are very nice snakes and very good looking, same thing with sand boas.
  4. So if you want the basics, just look up the care sheets, feel free to ask us anything but keep in mind that alot if not most all the info is all over online. If something you find seems like BS then ask us,some of it is,lol.Keep in mind, when I say some may bite, that does not mean that its going to take your finger off.A large blood Python may hurt a bit more but dont let a little snake bite steer you away from a great cool pet. Most will tame down in time.Eventually you get to a point where the more tame ones almost get boring and you want more of a challenge so just dont let i stop you all together.Hopefully this thread will help you guys find what your looking for in time.Good luck and feel free to ask anything because their are some very experienced keepers here.Good luck.PS,their is also the african house snake but I ran out of pic room,I hear they are great starters too.
  5. 1snake.jpgball python, very tame, great thick but not overpowering size, mellow, will chill coiled around your arm for a long time.

2snake.jpgcorn snake,I think its like the cat of reptiles, always looking around for something to do,very tame, hardy as heck, moves around alot more than a Ball Python.

3snake.jpgrosy boa, very slow, docile, one of my favs but they can be boring if your looking for an exciting pet,if you just love nature and reptiles as much as I do then they wont bore you.

4snake.jpgsand boa, docile, hides all day so if you want to see it,go digging and grab it up

5snake.jpgrainbow boa, mine was a jerk but Ive seen many tame ones.Awesome looking, high humidity to stay away from shed problems.

    6snake.jpgchildren's python,I here very docile little python,smallest I think,look it up.

    7snake.jpgking snake,little wiggly and feisty,fun though.

8snake.jpghognose,I here they hiss and play dead sometimes but lots of ppl just love them.

9snake.jpgblood python, heavy bodied little power house known to be a little more defensive, some ppl have very docile ones though,I want one bad, lol.

    10snakes.jpgmilk snake,much like the king,never had one.

Good job jason this is gonna help alot of people out.. including me lol :D
i can see this being a future sticky ;)

It could have been more professional but hey, who's got the dang time, lol. Thanks though. Its a start.Their are plenty of middle ground snakes like carpets, green tree pythons, red tails and such but some ppl just want a good smaller more docile snake to start with.Thats a good thing because if they make a poor choice then it can go down hill fast for them and the animal. It in return shines on the entire reptile community eventually so its best to know all you can first.

this should be stickyd. i see quite a few "whats a good beginner snake" posts on here

I'm not to sure about the BRB or the Blood. Arn't brb hard to keep? (humidity wise) and arn't bloods more prone to be nippy?

I do agree with the rest tough. I would recommend the two I mentioned as secondary snakes.

Does anyone agree with me?
