Hello all,
I am new to this site and also to aquariums. I had a few a long time ago and they didnt do too well. Much due to lack of info. I am currently gathering knowledge about African Cichlids. Actually, am forced to accelerate my info gathering, a pet store that had 2 really nice AC tanks was getting out of the business. I had been checking up on them randomly and decided to take the plunge. I now have a 110 gallon tank with 60 or so ACs. Really love them and look forward to getting better aquainted with them. Also looking forward to meeting others with similar passions.

Welcome to MFK! Congratulations on the new tank... Just like you, I also love AC's... how big are the 60 ACs you got? a 110 gallon tank would be too small once they start growing... you want to make sure you have a very good filtration system to keep the nitrate down... and you'll need to do frequent water changes unless you reduce your fish count... provide a good staple pellet food and give some variety once in a while like crickets, worms, etc. i feed mine NLS mostly... good luck!

Thanks for the welcome and advice Ricomambo. Am really new to all this. I am planning on water changes every two weeks. Will that be enough or should I go weekly? I have a canister filter on right now. Am looking at an Eheim canister setup. I cant recall the model now. NLS? what's that? Like I said, a real newbie.

:welcome:

Sorry for my late reply... been busy lately with work. 2 weeks of water change might not be enough, I suggest at least once a week.

You might want to supplement the Eheim filter with another one, not only because you have many fish but also to serve as a back up filter just in case something goes wrong to one of your two filters... In my 110, I have an Eheim canister as well as a Sump...

NLS = New Life Spectrum... you can read up on it by doing a search on MFK... good luck!
