Hi my name is Cory and Ive been in this hobby for 2 years now. My current tanks are a 20 gal planted community thank. 50 gal with 5 fancy goldfish, 2 65 gallons with a Oscar in each one. Now i finally have my dream fish in my small town. I ordered a silver arowana month ago and it was suppose to come in at 3 weeks but the lfs got them in week earlyer. And my 150 gallon isn't ready it needs the heaters and powerhead!! I have another 65 gallon setup as refuge tank, So would the silver be fine in a 65 gal for a week? its 6-7 inches the lfs. I told one of my friends to go in the store and check them out and he said their is 4 arowanas each in a 15 gallon tank.:screwy: Thanks ill be a recent poster too, looking for great advise from you guys.

i wouldnt see why leaving it a 65 for a week would be a problem. just make sure the bio and water parameters are ok. ive never had an aro so i cant speak from experience but i think as long as its not in there permanently it would be ok to house him in there for a week.

No keeping it in a 65g for a short period will not be a problem. They are jumpers, make sure your top is sealed tight and weighted. You don't want to have a dried up aro laying dead on the floor. Are you aware how fast silver aro grow? That 150g will be too small for your new aro within about 9 months maybe sooner.

65 will work for a short period of time.. maybe a month or so.. just make sure all the water params are good and the top has a nice lid on it

It shouldn't be a problem to keep an arowana that small in 65gal tank for short period of time. Just make sure there's no tank mate that's big or aggressive to hurt or swallow it (like oscar). Keep the water level low will help with the jumping issue. Keep water level about 4in below the top, or half the tank, in case arowana jumps, it won't seriously hurt or kill itself

okay thanks! i have a glass top that is rather thick i dont the exact mesurements and is 20 pounds. Another question is if i got a power head which direction should it be flowing? Its a aqua clear and very adjustable.
