hello people
iv just come back to fresh water from salt
had a marine tank for 5 years and before that had rays and arowanas
my tank is a 6x2x2 with sump and weir the sump has 5 chambers i also have an old deltec p04 reactor which im gonna put online.
im just looking for some advice as to what to use filtration wise in the sump please
ive already got the flosses im looking to eventually keeping a couple of rays and maybe a rtg at a later stage if the bio load can take it.
thanks
steve

I love nylon pot scrubbers myself Great bio media and you can get them at the dollar store

not sure where you could get them on that side of the pond though

Yeah the scrubbies are a bit harder to get hold of in bulk over here but try your local poundshop or if you have a wilkinsons or an aldi etc.
Welcome back to FW by the way.

Personally I would use bio balls from an LFS and add in some eheim substrat.

What do you plan to put in the reactor? I have a reactor that I can add carbon to if needed but do not currently run it.

My Sump also has pond foam as the water is forced through 3 different layers and this is simple to clean and is actually very good for bio activity (as per a pond and basic internal filters plus Fluval FX5 etc...)

I also have a Nitragon which can be individually pumped to keep Nitrates at close to zero between water changes but I do not run it for more than 1-2 days at any time to stop it building bio (I tend to run it then re-charge and then leave to when I need it next)

ok thanks for the input but were should i put the scrubbers .
let me go through the sump. in the first chamber i have some floss but hav room for somthing else. 2nd and 4th chamber is bubblestop and 5th is for return. so that leaves the 3rd chamber and the weir?
any help people.

Best thing to do is to look in the set up and filtration section for sump designs.
