I am getting ready to convert one of my 125 Gallon's to an african tank. And I was hoping to get some info from you the experts on MFK.

Based on my research and previous experience, I am interested in Fusco, Venustus & what I think are peacocks. I had africans before that were light blue with dark blue vertical strips. Sound like a peacock??

Would I be able to keep a breeding group of Fusco with a bunch of peacocks?

Or could I do a breeding group of Fusco & venustus in the same tank?

I don't think that Nimbochromis and Aulonocara will do well together long-term. Not sure what 'research' you did, but Nimbochromis are predatory Malawians that will far surpass the size of most Aulonocara. Africans with blue and blue/black striping describes over half of the Malawian population and some species of Tanganyikan cichlids - however it doesn't sound like most Aulonocara species.

As for two breeding groups of Nimbochromis in a 125g, I don't know how well that would work. I personally recommend seeking the knowledge of someone that knows Haplochromines well - and I have just the guy in mind (I will PM you his name).

The 'best' online distributor is by far subjective. There are many great sellers online - I will include the names of my favorites in the PM as well.

i agree with why spyder. i have not kept venustus, but have kept fuscos and they were the meanest, most aggressive fish i have ever kept. my last male killed every other fish in my tank. absolutely ruthless.
