What kind of fish would you recommend for a young person just starting out, :welcome: (the 7 or 8 year old range)?

if not some gourami are cool for a small tank
 
gotta love oscars.... i think i'll always keep one around, they're awesome fish.

betas.....bit boring but will live through any conditions

hell i dont even know what else to reccomend i was playing G.I. Joes and ninja turtles at that age.
 
its a shame that these days kids dispise such thing and adore power rangers and telletubies (yes there both stilll on air after countless petitions)

I think Oscars are great for kids, If you are asking in MFK, you´ll love Oscars, they are like puppies.
I started with Oscars (I mean started with big fishes).

i was watching tome and jerry yesterday and tom,jerry,spike(the dog) passing a pipe around

now a days they would be fined and ****


go with livebarrers(guppise,mollies,swordtails)

Yes i agree with nick an Oscar is a great fish to start with or you could if you just want something to look at start with a pair of tinfoil barbs they can grow to around 14" This is a very large barb, which grows quickly from the juvenile size often seen for sale. They are suitable companions for other non-aggressive fish in large display aquaria. Hope this helps you.
