Had a litter of motoro pups born yesterday. I only found three, but I was expecting more (since her last litter was 4 and she was much fatter this time). Two are doing great, but the third was badly injured. Looks to me like it got chewed up by one of the adult rays.

Did it get chewed up or is it under developed? You would think a bigger ray would tear into the meat, looks like just the skin is missing

Pretty sure it was fully developed. Tried to get a closeup of the back fins to show the edge of a bite mark.

The pup was still alive and able to swim when I removed it, but it was extremely weak and died within a few hours.

Did I mention these motoro pups were born in the same pond as the two huge castexi rays I just picked up from JohnG .... They are both 21-22 inch disk and could probably do some damage to a new pup. (The pups were only a few hours old when I found them.) The leo in the picture is 16-18 inch disk. Look how little he looks next to that castexi ray's tail.

I would love to see those castexi's tails in person, I bet they are as big around as your arm

its a shame but i guess that means one of the adults saw a snack and went for it, shame tis a nice pup :cry::cry:

Ive had these issues aswell. Every time i get some pups, the other rays are all over them.. Ive had 2 gettn eaten and 2 that got injured, but made it. Have to take them out ASAP, but its not easy to tell when they are comming.
