Hi, all- I pretty new to fishkeeping, not as hard core as some of you seem to be. I have a 20 gal I started Christmas day when my sons gave it to me as a gift. I had no idea it would become such a science experiment, but I love the hobby. I have a blue gourami, a clown platy, a creamsicle lyretail molly, 4 black skirts, 3 flame tetras, 3 cories and 2 ottos. All are happy, tank well cycled, fake plants except for 1. Nitrogen is a bit high (20ppm), everything else normal (at zero). I'm concerned about white cloudiness for about 3 weeks. Only new things are new food, one live plant, and 1 new otto. I also added an additional filter last week, so I now have enough filtration for 50 gals. Should I remove the plant? I do 20% water changes each week, have well water, and do a deep gravel vac at water change time. I rinse the filters in removed tank water and just changed the charcoal media for the first time last week. The cloudiness is frustrating!

WELCOME TO MFK!!!!
your filteration is fine, but you might want to add a power head to cerculate the water in front of all your plants and decore (dead spots) were all the left over food, poo, and other decaying matter might be.

Thanks for responding! I'll try that. I'm happy to report that after 3 (days in a row) applications of accu clear, the cloudiness looks pretty much gone. I think it might have been because I started some deep gravel vacs. Also, my nitrates are finally down to 10 ppm after over 2 months!

good to hear that your water is clearing up, keep us posted on your progress and post some pictures of your tank.

Welcome to MFK! We would love to see pic's of your fish.
