I FINALLY HAVE SOME! AH HAHAHA!! On Thursday, at 2:00pm....UPS drove up and delivered my package from Rapps. By the time it got there my finger nails were practically all gone, since the package was already an hour and a half late. So I rushed it inside and anxiously opened the box, hopin beyond all hope that all three of them were all right. Two of them were alright, all be it rather cold. The third one though, was on the VERY brink of death, floatin upside down, strugglin to stay submerged. I immideately started floating the bags in the tank, hopin to raise the temp. I paid the most attention to the one that was struggling to stay alive. Added some tank water to increase the temp faster and give it some fresh oxygen. There was a moment there it almost gave up...but then it started fightin again, and gradually started gettin more regular breathing. It was the first one I put into the tank. Its eyes were sunken in, fins torn up, and it was actin like its swimm bladder was either bad or its back was broken cuz it was floating head down and having problems with boyance. Not kewl. So i added the other pikes, and turned off the lights to allow them time to adjust with less stress. I came back a few hours later, and the one pike was doing better, but still wasn't usin the back end of his body...just drooping. He was more stable though, actually keepin level and swimmin around using its pectoral fins. I wasn't sure if it was gonna make it through the night, so i went to sleep worried about it. Wasn't the most restful night lemme tell yaz. I woke up this mornin expecting to find a dead pike....but much to my surprise and TOTAL elation....it was acting almost 90% normal. It was using its back end, and followin the other pikes around. Only thing thats wrong with it as of right now is the shredded fins, which isn't a big deal. WHEW! That was a SUPER close call. Closer than I woulda liked it to have been. Goes to show you how durable and tough pike cichlids are. They can pull through almost anything. Anywho, now I am a proud owner of three 6 to 7" (didn't measure them...too concerned wit gettin them in the tank...lol)
