Hey guys and gals!

About 3 months ago i setup a 65 gallon fish tank that i had laying around the house. I bought a couple cichlids a knife fish and sengal(spell) bichir. Well now i am completly addicted to bichirs. Mine has grown to about 9-10" and is by far my favorite fish. For the past couple of years i have been breeding high end chameleons and am now finding myself straying away from my other addiction of chameleons and moving to these amazing fish.

I am picking up a 125 gallon tank today. Got a steal for $150 for tank and the stand. I want all your opoioins and what i should stock it with. I love the bigger species. Ornatre, delhezi, weeksii, and i really want a endlicheri. Let me know how many bichirs you think i can keep in this 125g tank.

125 Gallon
72 1/2 x 18 1/2 x 23 3/8
weight of tank 206lbs
weight full 1400lbs

I'd do smaller bichir species tank.I don't feel it really wide enough for the bigger species-Anne

welcome to the clan. id say go for an endlicheri. i love ornates delhezis palamas laps weeksii and the list goes on and on.... there are a buncha bichir addics here, you will fit in. tell more about the chamelions. mullers are my fav...

I breed Ambilobe panther chameleons. Melleri's are awsome too though but they get alot bigger and require more space.

So messinger, you think an endlicheri or and ornate or a weeksii would fit in the 125?

Also do you own that website?

First off its not "Newie" but Newbie or Noob :D

I like the delhezis. But if you want bigger I would get some endlicheri. :)

i'm with anne and would only recommend smaller species of bichirs for that size tank. although you can use it to grow out some bigger species like the ornates and endlicheri but you'll eventually need a wider tank since they can grow pass 18".

I thought it would be big enough for the adults but you guys know more than me by a longshot. Some sites like http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?pcatid=830 say that a 50 gallon is suitable. Glad i came here first.

I plan on buying a endlicheri, ornate and a weeksii and putting them in my 65 gallon tank untill they get bigger. Then to the 125. After they get around 16" I plan on buying either a 150g 175 or a 210. Let me know if this will work and how long it would usally take for the ornate or endlicheri to outgrow a 125 tank.

Also if anyone succesfully kepts bigger endlicheri or ornates in a 125g with no problems let me know. I do howver get a certian joy going to the pet shop knowing am about to spend a whole bunch of money on one of my favorite hobbies.
