So my buddy gave me a 40 gallon tank 36 wide 12 deep and 24 tall, he had it as a aquarium then put some geckos in there (maybe spelt that wrong) either way lizards... Just want to know the best course of cleaning this thing up so I can put it on a month cycle before I throw some inverts in there.

Thanks
Glenn

Wash out with water. Use cleaning vinegar or ammonia for tough stains. Rinse out well should be good to go.

There are no stains just some dirt in it... and by cleaning vinegar do you mean like white distilled?

Oh good to know... here is the setup!

Nice of your buddy to give you the tank. Since it looks pretty clean already I’d just use regular distilled vinegar. Rise it out and your ready to go:)

Yea he was going to give me a 100 gallon but my wife put the stop to that real quick... so I figured this one just needs a cleaning and bonus the 2 large pieces of driftwood came with it so I am pretty pumped.

Yeah that would work too you can find "cleaning vinegar" at hardware stores which is just pure acetic acid.
Normal white vinegar from Target for $1 is fine. Don’t make this more complicated than it needs to be.
Also, OP, just scoop out or vacuum out that dirt. Wipe it down with a paper towel, and you will be good to go.

Step off, man. No need to rebuke my advice with yours.

Sorry i blew your mind with my "complicated" suggestion.

I appreciate the tips... thanks!
