my newly obtained motoro is going up and down the side of the tank - constantly. it's like he's possessed. I just got two of them on Tuesday. The one female, is eating well, and hang'n out. The male doesnt seem to be eating much (if any) and is swimming up and then dropping down the side of the tank - constantly. Any suggestions? I tested my water and it looks good.

I think it's just exploring it's new environment.

every ray I have ever had do that its normal

thanks guys, i feel a lot better. but im still concerned that he isnt eating very much. the female eats like crazy. he doesnt eat very much. kind of like i have one of the olson twins and oprah in the same tank...

how big are they and what are you feeding....

What have you been feeding? Have you tried black worms or shrimp?

i have tried raw fresh shrimp. neither wants to eat the shrimp. the female likes blood worms, but the male...not so much.

Try blackworms, ghost shrimp or red wigglers.. If he refuses those, it might not be a good sign..

Was it treated for parasites? Did the supplier have them eating well?

What size tank are they in? Do they have enough space to explore?

If he is constantly exploring the sides of the glass he might be looking for food, but not understanding what you are offering is just that.. try live foods.

Be careful he doesn't damage his tail by bobbing up and down on it.. Rays don't encounter 90 degree glass walls in the wild, so he might be trying to 'climb over' it and not understand that he's stressing himself out.
