Hi,

What are some things I can feed a newt, specifically a Paddle tail Newt? So far I have only seen it eat guppies, an earthworm, and a little bit of blood worms. Although this Newt is very slow at eating, doesn't respond good unless the food practically hits it in the face. Maybe its just getting used to it all. But anyway, what are some foods you have fed your newts?

Is there a type of pellet I can get for them? Thanks for your time

I got some Hikari sinking pellets and they seem to eat it. I have not actually seen them, but the pellets are gone when I look later. I also got something called Zoo med Aquatic Newt food. But the pellets are real small. I don't think I can use it.

You can, just try it, no harm trying. Zoo med usually makes pretty good stuff.

The problem is the pellets are small and the gravel is big. I would sink in the gravel and they would not find it. With the Hikari pellets its a little better.

Its your choice. If you think zoo med has better nutritional qualities, to be honest, something which I don't quite know exactly, you could always give the newt some time out in a smaller container and put pellets in there. If not, I suppose you could go with hikari, but remember not to limit their diet to pellets.
