I know that clown loaches need to have 4-6 of them in a group to truly thrive, and that they grow 10+ inches. My question is, would an aquarium smaller than 100g be suitable for a school of clown loaches, and if so, could I keep rainbows with them? Thanks.

Rainbowfish or rainbow sharks? You can give 2-3 years to let them stay in a tank with 75g size minimum. The bigger the tank though, the better.

Have you considered other species of loaches besides the clowns? Smaller ones are much better. If you insist however, start with 6-8 clown loaches.

I already have two, and I'm hoping to pick up more, they are very small now ( when I bought them they were just babies) I'm hoping to buy some more now that my lfs is going out of buisness. It takes close to 10 years for them to grow full size, correct?

Rainbows are fine, and clowns are slow growers. What size tank?
