I kept that guy in full fresh well of course I added a little aquarium salt but only to reduce stress and avoid deceases but not enough to make water brackish.... Well I put about 1 tsp per gallon. That's how I kept him. I have heard some say that they are a brackish fish though; but like I said I kept him in full fresh water... How's he doing???

well i have a certain "bichir" that wont do well with salt. is it ok to add a lil aquarium salt? when you add it. do you just throw the lil pieces in there? wont fish eat it if you do?

My fishes never do... my ornate poly is fine as well

Ive kept my NGTs in pure fresh, no salt added. They did very well but i never kept them
for a very long time. They are also aggressive towards conspecifics, depending on the setup but you might need a bunch of NGTS to reduce the aggression.

They like to Hide at smal sizes ( same with Pulchers ). Broad leaf plants or rocks will be appreciated at 8 inches or smaller.

Other than that, they are easy fish to keep.

i have a bigger thinbar in there. he be punkin my NGT =(

Like Wes said, they dont like each other. I had 3 in a tank (same size as yours, same batch actually. I hooked Jeff up with those, he got them from my supplier) and one of them tore the crap out of the other one badly, he later died from his wounds. Didnt even see it coming. Watch them closely and be ready to separate them if the chasing turns to fighting. Good luck!

jimmy..if dat "certain bicher" doesnt thrive in a lil salt..shoot it to me..hahah =]

i have the NGT by himself in a lil 10 gallon now. with two baby clown loaches
