Hey, i recently had my 320 gallon tank finished cycling, my LFS (which the worker is a good friend of mine) offered me 2 NGT juvenile datnoids for really cheap because he wanted them to have a good home.
They are both swimming around and looking very healthy.

However as this was an impusle buy, i came home and did some research, and it seems they need brackish water? Do they actually need brackfish water or will they be fine in 100% pure freshwater? And if they won't how long do i have before they get damaged from the water?

A lot of folks keep NGT in freshwater just fine

They don't need brackish at all-fine in 100% freshwater

The bigger problem is keeping 2 NGT together-that generally isn't advised as they tend to fight even in a large tank like yours

Agreed on both points.NGT are also notoriously hard to train off of live foods.
