DO you think that a 90 gallon tank is big enough for a pair of nics along with buenos aires tetras, a cutteri, and a convict as dithers/targets or should i get them a 125 gallon tank? I really want to give the pair enough room.

I find it interesting that despite having free swimming fry they still man a small territory only about half the tank. One of the reasons I chose nics in the first place. I will shoot for the 6 footer still but i believe they will be alright in a 90. Plus if I get the 6 foot tank I might be able to add more smaller cichlids.

Well thats true. they have bloomed into such pretty fish they deserve the space.

Yep I am going to go with the pair of nics in the 125 and smaller cryptopheros or archeocentrus as targets along with the tetras as dithers.

Ya. Gallons does not mean that much. You really need a six foot tank with a breeding pair if other tankmates are present.
