Nicaragua Cichlid

Hi

Would anyone that has a mature Nicaragua Cichlid male please post some pics for me. I bought a +- 7" "witch i think" male yesterday and i would just like to see what they look like when they are nice and big as this one is already one of the best looking fish i have.

oh yes sorry-what do you guys feed them as i take it they prefer to eat food from the bottom and not floating pellets.

Mine isn't that mature yet, about 4". I have noticed that it likes to feed in the mid to bottom levels and rarely goes to the surface. Flakes that spread well from top to bottom work well for me. It also loves freeze dried plankton that also spreads in the tank. Another feeding note is that sometimes when I feed large floating food items like freeze dried shrimp and live crickets the Nicaraguan will wait below the bigger surface eaters like my oscar and eat up the smaller bits that sink after the big guys crunch it up a bit.

i just fed the whole tank on some bloodworms and he seems to love it.will try to get him to eat some sinking shrimp pellets

Males will have less blue on the head and will have spots on the tail.

What he said plus fins are a long extended way past the rear of the tail fin. also the pectoral fins tend to look like streamers/tassles on males extended far past begining of anal fin females are usually to begining of anal fin.

feed them NLS, to be fair, I had one for some time in a community and had no problems feeding it floating food (which I prefer to feed)
