I dont even know if this is a female, but in the past 2 weeks it has gotten fat. It is really moody now and eating vivaciously. Does it look like shes fat with eggs or an illness?

the lack of lateral line makes me think male. with bloat or some sort of block? but sometimes the females will loose the line. does yours usually have a line?
nope, guess its a male. I've never had a fish get bloat before, but dont they usually stop eating and pooping? This guy does both. They may be a chance that he had just eaten ALOT of shrimp at the time of this picture (2 weeks ago) but its still pretty fat in the belly and feisty. It was pretty calm before only fussing with my AFF long ago.
maybe its getting ready to go through a groth spurt or something- the fact that it is pooping is a good sign. i have a breeding pair right now. i love em- kinda shy but so amazing when they grow out and get thier checker patterns
