My baby jags are in a 125 right now, I’m waiting for them to grow so I can pick one male out of the 5 to keep.

When the time is right I am most likely going to get a 240 gallon tank(72x30x25)

I want to do a Nicaraguan biotope with a male jag as my main fish.
I have to do my research on this stuff.

what do you guys think of that?
As far as aggression and adequate territory Would this tank be big enough for this?

Thanks in advance

Bigger the better on tank size. 240 is definitely fine for an adult male Jag, whether he lets other cichlids live there is up to him. You could definitely try it and keep an eye on things with a divider on hand. I would avoid other cichlids that look anything like him. What were you thinking as far as tankmates?

That’s a good question lol.
I’m not sure what would inhabate the same waters in the wild and what he wouldn’t want to kill. What would you put in there?

Nicaraguans and neetroplus live with them in the wild in nicaragua. Probably more cichlids as well. Neetroplus might be cool if you could get some large ones. They grow slowly and I would worry about the jag outpacing them and eventually eating them if you got small ones. Nicaraguans might work, definitely less aggressive than a jag but in a 240 with adequate cover it might work, if the jag doesn't see them as competition. I'd grow them up together from a small size and be caution with a divider on hand.
