as per the title, has anyone else had this happen? it turns out my nicaraguan cichlid is actually a female...and her and my convict male are "sitting on eggs" the eggs are loose next to a piece of bogwood, and she is picking about at them and making them roll around a lot....not sure if they are fertile, but I assumed fertile eggs would be stuck to either the bogwood or the floor...I also just treated for whitespot last night (the eggs were laid this evening) will this have any effect?

just had a look...they look quite cool, what were the eggs like with yours? and how were they laid? these are just loose on the floor of the tank next to some bogwood, and a fairly dark yellow.

H. nicaraguensis eggs are non-adhesive. Usually infertile eggs are white, so yours sound fertile.

Thanks for that, that would explain them rolling around etc...I am unsure that any will survive in the tank even if they do hatch, but will certainly be interesting to see if any do! :)
