Has anyone bred these fish?
I have a male and female both fully grown in breeding colours the lot but when i put them together all thta happenes is the female gets badly beaten up and tired out by this male?
Anyone know what to do as i'd love to breed them.
Thanks,
Jason.

just because they're male & female doesn't mean there compatible. most breeders would suggest to grow at-least 3 pair 7 let them pair off naturally.

How large are they comparitively? and what is your breeder tank.

I'd say to minimize the risk of losing one of your nicaraguensis, i'd start off with a new juvenile group of at least 6. Grow them out and let them pair off. This is how most cichlids find their partners. We can't force them to pair off even if there is one male and one female. They tend to choose their own mates. Otherwise you'd end up with shredded fins and potentially a dead fish. Good luck though.
