Hopefully its for real this time. I just re-introduced my male nic to my female nic and there was alot of tail slapping and flaring. Hopefully I will get a spawn soon but I won't get my hopes up. These guys are apparently hard to pair up and they have had relationship problems in the past. It's weird... sometimes the male beats on the female(mostly when I am around/during feedings) then other times they get along perfectly. They have colored up a bunch and look stunning. And with my new camera I got on black friday, I can finally get half descent pics.

Mine took over a year to spawn. After I added a man made cichlid cave from Ken's that made the difference. The lip locked for hours and got some black vertical lines on their back half. She got very golden colored.

Yours certainly look like they are getting along and colorede up nicely.

Mine have free swimmers again, and the two month old fry are growing out nicely in a 10g and eat all day long. They are about 5/8-3/4" now.

Fry about 2 months old. Taken this morning. Seems to be about 40. I have not seen any dead ones at all.

The Nics are in the 46g by themselves now. This was Saturday evening two weeks ago. They spawned the same night.

Odd that two weeks later now and they have free swimmers in their cave but have not had them out at all yet. I would like to feed the babies but cant. I can barely see them with a flashlight and they look fairly large.

Thanks your nics are just stunning. How large are they? The aquascape is awesome too. I see yours love to dig as much as mines does.

Yes they are definitely diggers. I always place rocks carefully in their tank. Always afraid an avalanche will crush them.

Male is 7" female about 5". I havnt noticed much growth for a while now.

Ahh my male is 5" and my female is about 4" so maybe to need to grow more.
