So my nics have "paired off" and I say that because their relationship is so... strained. Sometimes the male is sweet to my female and they get along great. And still, sometimes he chases her out of his territory and to make matters worse the resident cutteri has grown a huge set lately. I am a bit worried that they will never get along. I have read that nics are hard to get paired maybe that is it. They have dug a pit on one end of the tank together and do hang around together sometimes. They also show the typicsl tail slapping behavior. Should I just give them more time?
I had heard that cutteri are less aggressive than convicts from some sources and some sources say they are as aggressive as convicts. I am thinking they are more like the later. This little fish punks both my nics by himeself. He has made life especially difficult for my female when the male has his fits. But the tank is 55 gallons and there are no serious injuries just chasing. I was hoping to eventually add a pair of cutteri but honestly I am afraid that they will simply take over the tank. I mean if one fish can bully my nics then two will be hell since they are not well bonded. So I am pondering another small pair I can put in this tank since the nics normally only command half the tank and since I will be moving them into 125 gallon tank.
