wha would be a not so agressive pleco that gets no larger than 5" and actually fufills the name algea eater? it would be nice if u could do the common name and scientific.
just wondering? i was going to buy some clown plecos but my lfs got some in but they had a really bad case of ich and i didnt have the time or a extra tank to try to nurse them back to health.
Thanks :)

Never buy a sick fish to start with.
Don't be tempted.
On the algae eating, I keep 6 species of pleco and to be honest, none of the smaller ones are any good in cleaning.
The only smaller one i got that helps a little is a Sturisoma.
But I'm sure some other members will have ideas for some more active ones.
Bristlenose could be an option, i heard some good comments on their algae eating capabilities.

I have a dwarf rubber nose. He's won't get that big. he's never let me down. I don't have one spec of algae. saw some hair algae starting to grown and he cleaned it up that day
Petsmart is selling all their plecos for a dollar.

Yeah, if you're looking to get the job done with minimal pleco, rubbernose, bristlenose or otos are the way to go.

no, imo they max out at 8".
I never saw them bigger.
The zoo aquarium near my home has had them for many years and they are about the same size as mine, 8" the most.
And it's actually more whiptail and tail than pleco.:D

+ 1 for bristlenose pleco, i love mine
