I have a friend who owns a fish store that has a 96"Lx36"Wx18"T acrylic tank for sale- Im going down in a little while to see the thickness of it- me and another friend of mine have concerns of stress cracks- I didnt see any, but this tank could be 3/8" considering its low height, and it was a stores tank, so it might have been handled roughly- its also been sitting dry for awhile-

my other thoughts are the dimensions, the footprint is great, and aros stay in the upper column, but at this height there isnt really room for any of the fish from other waters strata- like if I put my aros in there, wont they be bumping into any other fish that I decide to get- including bottom dwellers- I dont want to force other fish into the arowanas airspace-

as for cost- she wanted $500, I plan on maybe $300 but definitely under $400- my camera was "fixed" by a kid that thought fixed meant break it into 1000 pieces and walk away, so Ill try for some with my phone- thanks for any thoughts-

That is awesome footprints! Just the tank or what is also included? The glass thickness should be about just right.

sounds like a great tank a little shallow but honestly its worth it for the 3 foot width

you can easily put a docile black arowana and still have cichla or dats and mid range dwellers

If you only put your aros in it, the depth will be fine. I would think if you start adding other fish or decor it'll get crowded. Though actual bottom dwellers would be fine.

I have my two 27-28" silvers along with a 22-23" balck aro in an 8'x3'. It seems roomy enough and hoping I can my other black aro(12") once it gets bigger. My three aros pretty much just use the upper half of the 30" tall tank, occasionally they'll drop down to the lower level.

fishaddict and Livelife- I was thinking the footprint might be worth it, but the awkwardness of it had me thinking too, at what height would the stand need to be? I was thinking about 4' tall, at that height it would be as tall as my 220 on its 3' stand, and with the extra foot of stand height, put a kickass bio-tower on the sump, with room for a good sized growout tank too

maybe, but there would be 3 big arowanas going in immediately and a 4th going in after it grows at least another foot

my 210 is only 21 inches high but that is a nice footprint.

do you have any pictures of it? how many arowanas are in there

It would just be arowanas and very very low bottom dwellers-
my 220 is 30" tall and at feeding time the aros seem to fill the tank from top to bottom- but with an extra 2' in length and 1' in width it might not be bad
I try not to have much decor at arowana level- so since it would all be arowana level, the tank would be pretty bare

I WOULD SAY A BIT SHALLOW FOR THE ARO, BUT BEAT THEM DOWN ON PRICE AS IT WOULD BE OK FOR CATS OR RAYS OR A BRILLIANT COMMUNITY TANK.

yeah it would be good for other things, but if its not good for arowanas, then its not good for me
