So I was just about to go to sleep, my 250 was making annoying sounds so I turned on the light to readjust some valves. I turn of the light get into the bed and start reading a little. Suddenly I hear a very odd sound. Not a splash but not a normal loud burp from the sump or anything. So I investigate after I hear it again. I turn on the light to the room and hear it again, and again. Think hm better check the back... Nothing... hear it again. It was in the canopy? And low and behold there is my sunshine peacock flapping away on the glass on top of the tank. He managed to jump out of like a 2x4 inch gap, which has a large tube ontop of it. Well now I need to figure out a way to close that up, but at least all seems well. (Just startling to say the least.)

But all and in all it was the best fish save I have had yet.

good deal man! i just had a 6" burundi front commit suicide. i heard somethin in the livingroom and my puppy rat terrier heard it to and kept barking but i was half a sleep and just rolled over and when i woke up and passed my tank and didnt see my front i looked everywhere and he made it under the damn stove! damn, i should of checked and now im -1 and ive had him since he was about an inch! damn! now im not gonna think twice! but good call!

oh no! im glad you were there, and awake to get him back in the tank! it sucks to come home to a whithered up fish on the floor..

wasn't going to sleep but I had a tank upstairs and I was down. Happen to hear two thumps like something fell. When I was going into the room I stepped over some shoes. Lucky I did as my female auratus was right next to them. same thing with jumping through where the filter was.

when they wanna go they wanna go.

My brother saved my aro once. He was asleep on the couch, and he heard a smack and then rustling on the floor. At first he didnt react cause he was dead asleep, but after he heard more rustling he got up and turned on the lights and found my 12" silver aro flipping around on the floor. Between him not reacting right away and then figuring out a way to get it in the tank without touching it (he is totally freaked out by my aro), the aro was out of the water for like 10 minutes. He swam funny for about a day, very stiff, but came out of it ok. Needless to say, I have rocks on top of my tank now.:)

Nice save.... I hate finding fish chips.

Try hot sauce...
