Hey Everyone,

I went through old threads and have come across that kels are the smallest peacock bass that are commonly available compared to intermedia which are smaller. My tank will be a 210-72x24x30 gallon tank so basically Im just looking for some fish to really roam the middle section of the tank with a black aro at the top and a specie of rays at the bottom most likely a hystrix ray if I can get my hands on one. So basically my job is to make this tank look great so Im still trying to pick which type of kel normally develops lots of colors compared to the rest?

Thanks A Million also filtration will be overkill....any tips let me know

Although the market is pretty much flooded with them I'm partial to the Bahias.

Hmmm I will look at some bahias from members on here thanks for the input.

Ive been looking at some kel araguaia and they seem pretty nice looking. I

Part of the allure of Kelberi is how crazy they range. They don't really start to develop until 12", or around 2 years of age. In my experience, there are very few, if any, indicators of how an adult Kelberi will look when compared to a juvie. That notion aside, the same can be said within a specific locale. Not all Bass from exotic locales will be stunners. I've seen plenty of wild/F1/F2 Bahia that trump a lot of wild fish. When you see a nice, impressive Kelberi (addison and scat come to mind), realize that you are literally looking at a one-in-a-million fish.

All that said, the Kelberi market is saturated at the moment with wild, supposed wild, and a whole bunch of Asian Kelberi. Short of buying an adult, it's all a gamble. You need to take what you can get and do everything in your power to groom the fish.

You should consider the adult pair Pennsreels has for sale in NJ. Of all the Kelberi I've owned, my favorites were my OG shark aquarium fish and Rapps 3rd batch. These fish have become sort of legend and to see one of sale as impressive as his is rare

Thanks guys, the chara defiantly looks pretty nice however seems they are really hard to come by over here you are lucky!

Hey shook do you have a link to pen reels can't find him with the search. I'm growing out small geos so I would have to find another holding tank as pretty sure a 40 breeder won't do well.

If I was to buy any bass defiantly be on fml as like you said quality ones are hard to come by and also I trust the vendors on here.

I gotta agree with Shook on the point of the vendors that he mentioned as most of my Bahia Kels have come from SharkAquarium and they were showing signs of good color and spangles at around four inches.They were readily taking pellets too for the most part which is a big plus.

Spangle = gold dots
