I bought a 5" Niger cat from a LFS about 3-4months ago. I put it in the main tank but the other fish are too fast when it comes to feeding. So i put him in a 150 G sump. I have yet to see him eat since i got him and god know when was the last time he ate at the store. I tried everything from flakes, various pellets, shrimps, small pieces of fish fillet. I tried feeding when light are off also. Nothing seems to work. He is always motionless and look dead unless you poke him then he'll move. His belly is really sunken. Please help as he is one of my fav fish. Water parameters are as follow. 75-78 degree, no ammo, nitrate 30-40 ppm. Weekly WC of 30%.

trive some feeder guppies, real small ones.... try frzen smelt from the store... i didnt think mine was eatting for the longest time but he was

guppies wont work. not a pred fish. seperate him from the others and buy some hikari sinking carnivore pellets and drop them right in front of his mouth

Ive had mine for probably a month and have never seen it eat

try the carnivore pellets. mine was 5" and very malnurished when i got him. he didnt eat well for about 2 months. i kept trying the pellets and now at 9", he'll eat 3 dz at a time

I fed him Full spectrum sinking pellets with no success,,he just lay still like a log in the same spot all day/nite long

Good news...i had my light turn off for a couple of hours. When i returned to turn on a small lamp and drop in a couple of pellets thinking maybe I'd get lucky. Sure enough he went crazy. Poor little fella must've been starving for a long time. I made sure to drop in at least two dozen mid size pellets.
