I bought a Niger cat with a stingray of some sort about 2 months ago. Put them both in my 500 G. Next morning the SR died for some unknown reason. Perhaps it was too cold in the garage or the Rosequeen chiclid killed it. Anyhow, I couldn't find my Niger cat so I thought it died and perished among the rocks. Tonight I found it's still alive. How could it have survived all this time with very little food? I feed my other fish heavily but I assume 99.99% of food got eaten up pretty quickly leaving him next to nothing to eat. In addition i also have another catfish (unknown) and he's a bottom feeder too so that would mean nothing for my Niger to eat. I usually feed my other fish pellets and small pieces of shrimp. How do i fatten my Niger up now that i found him alive?

feed at lights out tons of pellets daily and a few prawns, cockle, mussels now and again. the one i had went from 16 to 29in in under a year now lives in a 1500gal shop tank.

Mine only moves at night, feeding at lights out is an excellent idea.

I feed mine sinking 3mm pellets and wafers. They're pretty shy in the light, but they do come out to feed. They're about 11" now. They get braver as they get bigger.
