Well. I felt like there were a lot of these threads recently. So why not have another one?

The past few weeks I have been moving stuff in order to make more room for rays. I have had my 2 marbles(minis) for around a year now. And hoped to add a BD in the next few weeks.

So I walked in from work today and as always walked straight to my tanks. Big tank? Check looks good. 150 where's my male? Looked everywhere and finally found him dead behind the wood. Started to freak ran to get a net. Came back only to realize my female also dead.

Now I have absolutely NO CLUE what happened. I did a 50% water change Monday and they both are
Like pigs last night along with the rest Of the tank. All other fish seem "alright" some heavy breathing. Gonna run through some water test and do a water change. But as of now it looks like it was business as usual in my tank.

I'm truly gutted. Rihht as I was about to take a steep dive back into rays. :( to lose a pair in which I had hoped would provide some stunning pups is hard.

Ugh. They were a beautiful pair. Lots of fish in there with them. Anyone aggressive? Any marks on them?

Sorry for the losses......

sorry for your lost bro.. they are a beauty
Very sorry. Were the rays eating thawed fish?

Damn.... Really sorry George

Thank you everyone. Sucks losing your prized fish. But life moves on I suppose.

Male was almost a year and a half old and female was just under 3 years old.

I chalk this up as a mistake. Found a small piece of tilapia stuck in the flowerpot that I have my 3ft bamboo tied to. Nitrates were around 80ppm. 0 ammo and nitrite. Looks like leftover food that I missed. But 80ppm shouldn't have killed them so fast I feel. Also would like to add that who knows how long they were dead. Last looked at tank around 1am last night. Dead rays have to add to the nitrate levels obviously. Added 2 armatus about 2 weeks ago but I know the guy who had them previously and he didn't have issues. Rays were acting 100% normal up until I found them dead today. :(

Truly gorgeous rays

What the hell is going on!!! This is very discouraging for new ray keepers like my self! Very very sorry man they were a remarkable pair!!! Not one chance in hell would nitrates at 80 ppm kill fish. Not even 200ppm!!! Very strange

That really sucks. I hope all of us here have better luck in the future
