I'm a DSRL newb, never had one, always wanted one and let me say it's simply awesome.
Compared to the average point and shoot, even the crappiest lens (in my case, the kit lens) takes the most incredible images of your average everyday subject or scenery.
I had to choose between the new Nikon D90 or the new Canon 50D, and even though the Canon 50D has better built quality, faster shutter speed, faster continuous shooting and higher pixels, the HD video capabilities and the cheaper price of the Nikon D90 simply won me over.
Let me just say, it's an incredible camera.
