According to California title 14, section 671, "Tilapia Nilotica" are prohibited.

(O) Family Cichlidae-Cichlids
1.
Tilapia sparrmani (Banded tilapia) (D).
2.
Tilapia zilli (Redbelly tilapia) (D), except permits may
be issued to a person or agency for importation, transportation,
or possession in the counties of San
Bernardino, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San
Diego, and Imperial.
3.
Tilapia aurea (Blue tilapia) (D).

4.
Tilapia nilotica (Nile tilapia) (D).

The Nile Tilapia is actually Oreochromis niloticus...have I found a loophole?
It better be....I have a 800G Pond full of White O. niloticus...

Nope. The laws don't keep up with the many changes to the scientific community. It's the same fish, and can be traced back to the name listed in the law, they can still issue the citation.

:irked: Darn this state....

Better harvest them early I guess...
