Pics of my little 2 incher Nimbo Venustus(Not entirely sure, but looks about right)

10 Gallon he's currently growing up in. Eco Complete cichlid Sand substrate. Filtered with an Emperor 280.

I, myself, think he looks pretty awesome. Can barely see, but it has a strike of yellow right above the white on his dorsals.

Yeah that looks like a Venustus I hope you have a bigger tank for him.

I do, It's growing out for my moms 55 if she ever comes and gets him. Wish I could keep it myself, but I don't think he'd like chillin with my Angels, haha. I saw the little guy in one of the random "Small Cichlid" tanks at Petco and rescued the little guy, heh. It was around 3/4th an inch when i got it.

So you got from petsmart, and put it in a tank that's to small, then you want to put it in a 55, which is still to small for venustus. I must have missed the part where you "rescued" something.

Maybe you should get off your high horse then and not jump to conclusions. Did I say I was keeping him in the 55 for good? No. He'll be upgraded as needed. The Petco, not Petsmart mind you, is complete **** in regards to the aquatics department in my town. So regardless of what you think, he'll be in a better place, rather than being dead. That aside, I used the term "Rescued" loosely.
Moreso, people use tanks that are "too small" for a fish as grow out tanks quite often.

The problem with keeping venustus or livingstoni in small tanks is that they can spook easily and take off with lightning fast bursts of speed, slamming into a rock or the glass hard enough to kill themselves. It can happen in any sized tank, but is less likely to happen in larger tanks, so they should be grown out in as large a tank as possible.

Sorry if I sound like I'm being a #@$# But lately, it seems every fish that was PURCHASED was "rescued" If you're that concerned about the conditions at petco, STOP buying stuff there. Every time you "rescue" a fish from there, they order more. Unless the petco is on fire, nobody's rescuing anything.

And that's all you had to say. I didn't know that about the species, and wouldn't have guessed it from the one mine acts. It darts around, but not out of fear. Just when it's waiting for me to drop his food in. It waits eagerly in the spot I always feed it when I wake up, watching me almost. Its amusing. As stated, he'll be upgraded as needed. My mothers 55 has more juvie cichlids in it. So it'll fit in while its growing more, she just needs to hurry up and come get it.

Also as stated, I used to term "rescued" very lightly. I don't shop fish at Petco. Their supplies are typically cheaper, so I go there if im in a tight spot on cash. I noticed the Venustus, and grabbed him. I'm aware of the fact they get restocked. I think I've bought maybe, 3 fish from petco in the 5 years i've been doing fish.
