I'd say male, but you'll know for sure if/when it darkens up.

You wont know for sure till the juice wears off.
Singapore has been sending them with the assorted haps and mbuna for the past couple months.
I picked one that looked just like that and it turned out female?

I would like to find one in the assorted hap selection. Where did you get one? If you raised that for a while then that would be a male but if you just got it, then give it some time. They do juice the heck out of these fish. That's not a common fish which is cool and looks great.

how long is this fish. they grow pretty quickly, but take a long time to color up as well. the red in the fins could be from juicing depending on size, but i don't think females show any of the blue sheen which you can see starting at the face. I'd say male. Had a 2" that is now about 7" after 10 months, shows lots of blue in the face, more in the body when the lights are off, but very little red in dorsal or tail fins.

It has been in tank 6 days , What is juice and how long to where out ? I might pic up 2 more that way I get a chance of at least one being a male

'juice(d)' means the fish was treated with hormones or steroids to bring out colors brighter and sooner than they normally would. This makes the fish more attractive to potential buyers. The colors generated by being juiced will eventually wear off, and I've read that some fish end up sterile due to these treatments. I don't know if there is a for-sure way tell if a fish has been treated with this other than looking at what a certain fish should look like at whatever point in it's life and compare to the potentially juiced fish.

They have gotten so good at juicing fish that even the females will show long flowing finnage, as well as unbelievable male coloration.
We do need to know how big this fish is, to know if its been juiced.
I dont think it would be that colorful unless its almost mature and in with a boatload of females.?

I would get two more just because they are awesome fish. I've noticed Petsmart even carries fish jucied up which kind of makes me mad. I had a friend buy a beautiful Ruby Red Peacock male and it came over and released a bunch of babies from her mouth. It was some asian exporter. It will take a month or so to wear off is what i think. I know there is more people on here with more exp on it.
