I have one female in my 6ft tank in my signiture and thinking of adding an male but i have a pair of livingstoni which display the same colours as they do, would there be lots of fighting if i introduced a male in?

My Female Livingstoni Decimated MY male Fusco :( And the Fusco was a little larger.

Every situation is different.. Though these species have a reputation for being nasty :)

My livingstonni is living with yellow labs black calvus red zebra etc he is about 7" and gets a long fine with them he chases them a bit but nothing harsh.

Livingstoni are one of the most aggressive and muscular haps in Malawi. Mine is a real monster and I won't be reintroducing him into his previous tank until I'm stocked well up with females as he mad life for the other fish hell. Every fish is different though, and yours does sound docile so I don't see why you shouldn't try.

I don't know how people come to the conclusion that Livingstonii are that aggressive?
Is it because they haven't kept even more aggressive fish like fullgrown Fusco's, Buccochromis, Tyrannochromis or Champsochromis species?

In my 1300 liter tank the Fusco didn't have more trouble with the livingstonii than the other fish.

But the aggression you will see is more dependent on the particular fish's personality. Furthermore the tank and its inhabitants + hiding rooms etc. are very important. Even larger fish that get in trouble will need to escape to places where the domininant animal can't see them.

Nice pic I gotta get me one of those when I get a bigger tank.

cool!! I guess I have 2 females I thought I had a male but I think I ended up with 2 females... They are actually very chill and so far never fight and never get picked on either... Is yours holding?
