I'm interested in obtaining Nimbochromis. What are their minimum requirements, and do they make good wet pets? Or are they interesting for observation. Or anything else...
venustus is a popular one, they get big and imo require a 6' tank minimum. They are aggressive for the most part, Males get the blue face with a nice yellow blaze and body when they are dominant. Mines jumped, but i had a 10" male that was a real brute.
If you want to keep a nice group of them, I'd say a 90gal is a minimum.
In my experiences, the Venustus' are the least agressive out of the Nimbochromis group.
I think a male venustus is a fantastic display fish...in terms of aggression, I've found livingstoni to be more aggressive than venustus. Can't comment on other nimbochromis, haven't kept others
