okay, so I meet this lady that's got a pic of a yellow tang with nipped fins.. she says it's fine but I think the opposite, I told her it could effect the way it swims but she says not and all fish look different :screwy:

I hate under educated people :irked::irked::irked::irked:
So here's the thing, I want everyones opinion on this please :D

Depends on how much is missing. Many times they can heal themselves over time.

I have an angel fish that was basically de-finned. Every fin was gone down to the base, he looked like a living coin. He's doing much better now a month later.

I would suggest to her to watch her fish closely and see whats doing the picking. Tangs are active fish and if there in a system that is too small for them with fish that maybe aggresive, then chances are that there are disputes going around the tank for space. Also if the Tang is really small with larger fish then it could be getting picked on this way as well. A few things i look for in a fish are good finnage and plumb bellys. I it has a sunken stomach then its malnurished and she needs to give her fish to you lol.
