Hey all.... I noticed yesterday that my nitrite was about 2 ppm. So I did a 30% water change and checked it this morning and it still looks like 2ppm...Also I have only had the tank running for 7 days. I'm not sure if it's still cycling...But two out of the 5 of my angelfish are not relaxed the don't swim like the others and there fins are not fully extended like the other 3....am I in trouble? The platinum stressed one is moving his fins pretty fast but staying in place. I pretty sure it's stressed out but I don't know what else to do. I'm going to go buy prime right now and try to lower the nitrite. the rest of the parameters are fine (low Nitrate, 7.3 PH, Soft water, No chlorine,)

Did you cycle the tank before adding your fish?

It doesn't sound like your tank is fully cycled.
Keep on doing the water changes.

Also, do you have a friend who keeps fish or a lfs that would be happy to give you some filter media? That should speed things up considerably.

i'm about an hour away, i have some sponges that need to be changed out.. i'll give you a sponge if you come and get it.
