My hospital tank currently has high nitrate level. But i'm
In the process of treating my fish with medication . Thinking if i can add nitrate absorbing mat? Or will the medication also be absorbed? Any ideas?

I would just do a water change, and redose for the amount of water changed. That's what I do. What type of medication are you using? Are you feeding the fish while medicating?

Thanks I'm
Currently deworming my rays with praziquantel.
I feed them only a small amount .

Nitrate pads are a good add on when on vacation or not able to be timely with tank husbandry but water changes is the best way to remove it effectively. Shouldn’t effect meds.

Is this the API nitrate test? If so, do a 3rd test, and shake bottle number 2 for at least 2 minutes very hard. The particles inside clump up if you haven't used weekly. The more particles that come out, the higher the nitrate reading. Vigorous shaking for 2 minutes or longer will ensure that the particles are evenly more distributed in the solution. If the drops come out slower than before, then you didn't shake the bottle long enough and you should start a new test.

Also, if you didn't clean the test tube and cap with clean water, there is a high chance residual nitrates are left in the tube. I also like to use a paper towel to wipe the inside of the tubes and cap dry.
