So let me start this off by saying i do not have a nitrate problem and I do have a very good water change schedule. I have always been curious to how well seachem denitrate actually works and to find out i am going to try it. I converted a two little fishies phosban reactor (filled with bio balls) into a CO2 reactor on my 90g planted tank and it works pretty nicely, so I am going to do the same for my 125g. I have a couple questions I was hoping you guys could help with. I plan on using an ovation internal filter as my pump/pre filter to the reactor. I can either use the a model that pumps a max of 100 gph or one that does a max of 53 gph. Since the bacteria that break down nitrate are anoerobic seachem says you want a max flow rate of 50 gph. I know with the all the turns and forcing flow through the reactor i am going to loose a lot of power. Will I loose enough that I can use the larger 100 gph pump and be ok? If not if I use the weaker one that maxes out at 53 gph do I risk it being too weak? The flow on these filters are not adjustable. Also when filling a reactor with actual media how full do you want the chamber? Lastly if you can answer how much should I fill the chamber do you know what size container of denitrate I should order? Thanks
