I am planning on setting up a 300g tank with a sump that has plants in it. I was wondering what plants are the best nitrate reducers? I was also wondering how much nitrate do plants actually reduce? Is it a minimal amount that doing regular water will do about the same thing, or is it a significant enough amount that it will make a significant difference?

The best plants are faster grower, that are systemic. I like hornwort, and najas grass. The amount removed will depend on the rate of growth. I dose ~8ppm nitrate into my 135 gallon tank daily.
