A couple months ago I saw a thread with people growing non aquatic plants out of their tanks. I loved the look of the plants draped down the sides of the fish tank with just the roots submerged in the tank. I have a 18" fire eel in my 220 so I have been trying to figure out a way to house the plants and not create an escape hatch for Doug the eel. Well I figured out how to block off the overflow boxes good enough where I can grow them out of each box. The problem is I don't remember what kind of plants they were using. I know it was a really common plant, like an ivy or something similar. I remember people saying like home depot and similar places sell them. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I just know they said that the plants absolutely destroyed nitrates. While this will come in handy, I'm much more looking for the looks of the plants. Also if anyone grows any plants like this feel free to post pics. And also I didn't post this in the planted section because I didn't think it fit that catagory technically.

Pothos. aka Devil's ivy. I have it growing in some old HOB filters in my tanks, and it does a great job helping keep my nitrates down. If it gets enough light, it will take over. You'll have to trim it back periodically.

You can drill a few 1/4" holes in the plastic strip on the back of your lids.

You're welcome. BTW, what do you think of my Blue Jack?

I love your EBJD! Sadly I lost my big male last april. Mine measured 7" SL almost on the dot. He was an amazing fish but died out of the blue for no appearant reason. Yours has some of the nicest finnage I've seen in awhile. Also really nice coloration.

Thanks for the kind words and sorry to hear about yours. I think I would freak out if I lost mine. That's the problem with the EBJDs. You can do EVERYTHING right and still lose them for no apparent reason. Good luck with your planting project.

Thanks I will keep everyone posted with my project. My only advise to EBJD owners is take as many pictures as you can. I wish I had more pics of mine. He was my pride and joy, and I only have a hand full of pics.

Enough of a de-rail, anybody else have pics of pothos or any other plants?
